About Me
Growing up in a Spanish immersion program throughout my elementary and middle school years, and then continuing my language studies in high school, inspired me to pursue a secondary education that incorporated Spanish alongside my passion for healthcare. This led me to my major, Language and International Health, which combines humanities-focused language courses with a health science focus. The coursework I have taken and the professional skills I have gained over the course of my four years spent at Clemson have greatly prepared me for a future career as a physician assistant (PA).
As I continue to explore the role of language in healthcare and embrace a more holistic approach to patient care, I have grown in my cultural competence. My time abroad spent in Seville, Spain allowed me to gain an international and interdisciplinary perspective on healthcare. I had the opportunity to shadow the nurses at a local hospital, Clínica Santa Isabel, which provided me first-hand exposure to the delivery of health services in Spain. This experience also gave me the opportunity to reflect on the importance of communication in healthcare, specifically language barriers. As I continue to improve upon my Spanish proficiency, I hope to incorporate my language skills into my future work as a PA and provide the most comprehensive care as possible.

In addition to my academics at Clemson, I am also CNA certified. During the summer and fall of 2025, I worked as a CNA/medication technician at Clemson Downs, a retirement home in Clemson, SC. Specifically, I worked with residents in the assisted living and memory care unit. Working as a CNA strengthened my sense of empathy and reinforced the importance of patience to provide the best care for my residents. I also further developed my teamwork skill as I collaborated with other CNAs and resident assistants to aid our residents with their daily living activities. This experience has greatly shaped me into a more compassionate and empathetic healthcare provider.
These experiences and skills that I have continued to develop have shaped my core values. I aspire to live a life dedicated to serving others where everyone is treated equally, regardless of physical, social, economic, or political factors. As a future PA, I intend to foster a clinical environment rooted in inclusivity and compassion. I aim to approach each patient with an open mind, thoughtfully considering and respecting their lived experiences. These core values will prepare me to be a better health provider.
I believe that my academic, professional, and international experiences with the Spanish language and healthcare will allow me to provide care centered around inclusivity and empathy. I have come to understand that healthcare extends beyond simply treating a person who is sick; it requires cultural awareness and the desire to provide the best care possible to each patient, no matter what.
